10 Reasons Why You Will Love Living in Phuket

We love Phuket because it has everything we enjoy on one island.  From beaches to water sports, nature, nightlife, culture, and history.  It ticks all of our boxes while being very affordable.  So here I will share with you the 10 reasons why you will love living in Phuket.

Now, we’re Kendra and David Lucas of Lucas World Travel and we sold everything to travel the world.  The goal was to visit 100 countries to see which one we liked the best, and then move to our favorite permanently, but wound up getting stranded in Thailand due to the pandemic.  We lived in Krabi for a year and really enjoyed that, but decided to move to Phuket because of all the wonderful things it offers.

I love the beaches in Phuket

I love the beaches in Phuket. There are 43 lovely beaches to explore. Yes, many can be crowded during high season still they are are all amazing and different from one another. If you are the type of person that loves seclusion there are many private and or secluded beaches to find and explore. Those typically require a bit of hiking to find.

I love the activities in Phuket

Another reason I loved living in Phuket was the activities Phuket offers. You will not ever get bored. There is free diving, scuba diving, paragliding, snorkeling, surfing, kayaking, jet-skiing, and windsurfing, wind sailing, muay Thai, yoga, skateboarding, and ice skating.  There are so many activities to choose from right on the island. That you will seriously not get bored.

I love the cost of living in Phuket

One of the reasons I loved living in Phuket was the cost of living. We have stayed in a few luxury condos for much less than we would have paid in our home country of America. The quality of what we have experienced was much higher than what we could afford back home.  The same can be said of massage and most all things. The spas that we have experienced here in Thailand are superior in quality for the expense paid.

I love the island hopping tours in Phuket

I love the island hopping tours in Phuket. Phuket has 15 surrounding islands. If you love to explore I highly recommend you take an island hopping tour. Most can be done in a day and you can experience several islands. Most tour packages include lunch and snorkeling, which we loved as well. The islands also offer fantastic beaches for swimming and cafes for lounging. The views on these islands are spectacular as well. Some of my favorite island tours include Surin island and Similan islands. We also enjoyed Phi Phi island, Phuket Phang Nga Bay, Coral, and Racha Island.

I love the Thai People in Phuket

I love the Thai People in Phuket. The Thai people are known for their sincere kindness. They are often referred to as the land of smiles. They genuinely seek to offer you the very best possible experience when you visit their restaurants, their shops, and their places of business. They are also genuinely fun-loving.

I loved the nightlife on Bangla Walking Street and Salsa dancing

I loved the nightlife on Bangla Walking Street. This street feels very much like Times Square in New York. What I mean is it’s very festive. It offers dance clubs, bars, and restaurants. We love to go Salsa dancing. We love Latin music. Salsa dancing is a global community that we belong to.  Greenman Pub, Mirage Restaurant, and the Chalong Distillery all offer Salsa, Bachata, and Kizomba dancing. They offer dance lessons as well.

I love the Night markets

I love the Night markets. You can get great discounts on shopping at the Nightmarket. You can also find amazing food vendors there. This is a place where a lot of the locals and tourists go for deals. I also love that you will most likely find great entertainment there.

I love the Viewpoints in Phuket and Bang Pae Waterfall

I love the viewpoints in Phuket. These are great places to experience nature. You will love Karon Viewpoint, Promthep Cape Viewpoint, and Black Rock Viewpoint at Monkey Hill. At Bang Pae Waterfalls you can actually dive in and go for a swim. I did and I loved it.

I love the culture in Phuket

I love the culture in Phuket. You can enjoy the Big Buddha Temple. It offers amazing views of the city below as well. You can also enjoy the Chalong Temple, the many festivals and museums as well. I thoroughly enjoy the Vegetarian Festival.

We love Phuket because it has everything we enjoy on one island.  From beaches to water sports, nature, nightlife, culture, and history.  It ticks all of our boxes while being very affordable.
