Thailand Travel Phuket

Thailand will be officially opening for travel on July 1, 2021. Covid-19 restrictions and quarantine for each person will be determined by vaccination and other regulations by immigration. However, for many, this is still an opportune time to venture out and fully enjoy Phuket Thailand. Businesses in Thailand have eagerly awaited for the government to open the country. The Thai people are known for their kindness and generosity to tourists and they love showing off their beautiful country. Tourists will be welcomed with open arms and they will get the full royal treatment Thailand is known for. If you check before coming, many Hotels are offering amazing rates. I want to share with you some of the most wonderful things there are to do while in Phuket, Thailand.

Experience the Amazing Beaches

With about 42 plus beaches on the island, you will have no shortage of beaches to enjoy. It all comes down to your preference. Do you want a beautiful beach or do you want a beautiful beach? There are fan-favorite beaches depending on the convenience and location of your hotel or villa. However, I would recommend you spend a few days venturing out and searching for the beach of your dreams. It’s here. There are many beaches that require a little hiking to get to but the experience will be richly rewarded. Some of these beaches are off the beaten path and if you go there you will be in the limited few who have been to such beaches. Like Passion Beach. If you want to be in this exclusive club be prepared to hike 30 to 45 minutes down a mountainside to enjoy it. Remember when it is time to go home you will have to climb that same path to get back. You may hire a private boat to take you if you do not want to make the climb. More familiar and populated beaches include Kata Beach, Kata Noi Beach, Phatong Beach, Kamala beach, and Nai Harn Beach.

Take Island Hopping Tours

I highly recommend the island hopping tours. Sometimes the groups can be big but if you will be so excited you will hardly notice. I recommend the Sea Star Touring company. We went on two adventures with them and we thoroughly enjoyed them both. There is also the option of booking private boats or long-tailed boats to take you anywhere you would like to venture. Take it from me, you will love the islands around Phuket. I have not ever been disappointed in these tours. Similan Island tour and Surin Island tour are my favorites in the area. However, Phi Phi Island and James Bond Island are also not far from here. You can take tours to these islands and perhaps enjoy snorkeling and picnic lunches while on the sightseeing tours. There are so many islands to choose from. You may see multiple islands on the same day. Although these islands are in the same region we found them to be very different from one another. Try Racha island, Ran Yai Island, Coral Island, Koh Kai Island, Koh Sirey Island, Koh Bon Island, Koh Panyi Island, Koh Hong Island, Koh Yao Island, Koh Kaeo Island, Maiton Island, James Bond Island, and Koh Maphraoisland Island. I would be remiss if I didn’t suggest you also see Phang Nga Bay. Samet Nangshe Viewpoint is an excellent place to take in the full splendor of Phang Nga Bay.

Take a Sunset Cruise

Recently, we booked a sunset cruise aboard a Catamaran. I love Yachts and for me, this was the next step up. The voyage of a Catamaran was so smooth and the water and views were amazing. This particular cruise had 3 Catamarans with techno music, food and drinks. The Catamaran also stopped near one of the local beaches and allowed people to dance and swim. It was awesome to see the sunset while aboard and watch the day turn tonight. Soon we felt like we were in a club atmosphere.

Enjoy the Nightlife of Bangla Road

Bangla Road, also known as Patong Walking Street, is party central in Phuket. There are so many restaurants and clubs to choose from. Advertisers and patrons are waiting for the chance to entice you into coming to their venue for the evening. There are so many selections it is difficult to choose. While we were there we chose to enjoy a club called Illusions. We really loved the live music and entertainment. They had a live DJ, with dancers and an aerial performer. They had tables where you could stand and dance while you enjoyed the show and dinner tables. 

Shop at Local Markets and Phuket Central

It is customary to walk along the local streets and shop in the local markets. When you get tired or want to take a break you can. There is always a comfortable place to stop and enjoy a meal. Street food is accessible in most of these locations and restaurants are available as well. Many of the restaurants are both dine-in and have open-air options. The local markets have just about everything you can imagine. You also might find the local markets to be less expensive than most shopping malls. So if you are planning on purchasing gifts and souvenirs this might be the best option. They have something for everyone. You can also find a great meal at the local markets in Phuket.

If you are going to spend a bit more time in Phuket you might want to take a lesson or two while you are here. Phuket offers a great variety of specialty classes such as Surfing, Scuba Diving, Free Diving, Yoga, Yoga Instructor Training, Muay Thai, Yacht Sailing, and Speed Boat Sailing. You would be amazed to learn that people come to Phuket from all over the world to go snorkeling or scuba diving. People also come from all over the world to both learn and go rock climbing in Krabi. Krabi is only 3 hours away by car from Phuket. You can also get swimming lessons. I did. You can learn Muay Thai. Many do. You can get those really expensive tattoos for amazing prices here. Almost half the cost of the ones in America and Europe. I know because I have asked and compared the prices. 

Get a Fantastic Thai Massage

I’m sure you have heard of Thai massage but you may not be aware that there are many different styles of massage you might enjoy. Thai massage venues may offer Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Aromatherapy Massage, Shiatsu Massage, Hot Stone Massage, Sports massage, Trigger Point Massage, and Reflexology Massage.

Enjoy the Superior Dining Experience

Most restaurants offer all the western dining options and so much more. Phuket is a very diverse community so it offers many varieties and selections for everyone. Hotels and Resorts will have great options as well. You can get the very best Seafood and Steak here. A very popular restaurant here is WeCafe. Their selection is endless. For those of you who love Vegetarian and or Vegan food, like I do, I can highly recommend Go Vegan restaurant, and Vegan Table restaurant.

Travel Tips

When traveling to Thailand. Do not forget to pack your noise-canceling headphones, your swimsuits, your sandals, tennis shoes, and your sunscreen. Also, take a great camera or have a mobile device that takes great photos. You want to dress light but if you forget and leave anything at home you should be able to purchase what you need fairly easily upon arrival.
