Phuket is a hilly island in the South of Thailand that offers some amazing beaches and some amazing viewpoints. These viewpoints allow you to get a better sense of the geography of the island, but most importantly these Phuket viewpoints are simply stunning! See for yourself in the video below!
The best part is that all of these viewpoints are free, so there should be nothing holding you back from seeing them all. We believe that taking the time to see the world from a new perspective is always a worthwhile venture and these Phuket viewpoints will help you see the island in a whole new light!

Toggle1. The Big Buddha Temple
The Big Buddha is one of the most popular attractions in Phuket because it houses the third tallest Buddha in Thailand while offering some amazing views too! From the observation deck you can clearly see Chalong Pier and Phuket Town in the distance.
When you climb the stairs up to the Big Buddha, you will also see rolling mountain views of the surrounding area and sea views in the back. There is so much beauty at the Big Buddha Phuket. It is definitely a must-see when you are in Phuket.

2. Rang Hill Viewpoint
At Rang Hill viewpoint, you may see a monkey or two. When we went, we even saw a dog chase a monkey up a tree which is definitely not something you see everyday!
This viewpoint also offers expansive city views and really is a lovely place to go for sunset. We watched the sun set behind the picturesque hills and then had dinner at Tunk-ka Cafe which is right next door. It was nice to enjoy an excellent meal while you watch the lights of the city twinkle to life.

3. Black Rock Viewpoint
Black Rock viewpoint requires a 200-meter hike to the top. The hike only takes about 10 minutes, but the steep incline will get you a bit winded. I’m not really a hiker, but I found the views at Black Rock Viewpoint to be worth the effort.
At the top, you will see Naiharn beach, a lake, the Windmill Viewpoint, and even Promthep Cape all at the same time. If you are a fit and active traveler, the climb to Black Rock might be right up your alley!
4. Karon View Point
Just 8 minutes away from Black Rock is Karon Viewpoint. This spot is worth a quick stop to see views of 3 different beaches Karon, Kata, and Kata Noi beach. You would have never known these beaches made 3 perfect horseshoes unless you take a moment to see it for yourself from this viewpoint.
5. Windmill Viewpoint
The Windmill Viewpoint is so named because of the windmill right next door. This spot offers great views of Na Yui Beach and is a great place to take some epic Instagram shots.
6. Promthep Cape
Promthep Cape is the most popular sunset spot in Phuket. You will literally see hundreds of people buzzing around trying to get the perfect picture. It’s not my favorite spot, but have you really been to a place unless you’ve done the most popular attractions at least once? We did like the restaurant by the cape though. Bukito Restaurant is a great place to have dinner after watching the sunset!

7. Laem Singh Viewpoint
When you are heading up the coast to Surin beach, Laem Singh Viewpoint is a good place for a quick stop. Here you will see great views of Laem Singh Beach and the hills of Kamala. It’s not really worth going out of your way to see this viewpoint, but when you are near Kamala and Surin it’s worth a quick stop.
8. Khao Khad Viewpoint
Our last three viewpoints will take you to Panwa Cape which is the area that holds our favorite view point on the island. Your first stop is Khao Khad Viewpoint. This spot is great to see views of Chalong Bay and Phuket City. Plus the flowers and the sparkling blue water makes it a colorful experience.
9. Laem Panwa Viewpoint
Laem Panwa Viewpoint is at the southern tip of Panwa Cape and offers a nice place to watch the ships sail by while enjoying the sea breeze. We enjoyed the views of the neighboring islands and neighboring capes.
10. Khao Khad View Tower
Khao Khad Tower is by far our favorite viewpoint on the island. On the way to the tower, there’s an unnamed viewpoint that is also worth a quick stop, before you climb the hill to see Khao Khad Tower. This tower is the only viewpoint that offers 360 degree views of the island and boy what a difference that makes! The view from Khao Khad View Tower is unparalleled and definitely a must-see when you come to Phuket.
Final Thoughts on these Phuket Viewpoints
We enjoyed seeing all of these Phuket viewpoints, but the Big Buddha and the Khao Khad View Tower were definitely our favorites. So we really encourage you to take the time, venture away from the beach for a moment and enjoy these aerial views! Seeing Phuket from the top of a viewpoint really is an unforgettable experience!
