Raya Island & Coral Island | 2 Stunning Islands | One Day-Trip From Phuket

If you are looking for paradise, it can be found on Raya Island and Coral Island.  We took an island-hopping boat tour there and were blown away by the beautiful beaches, the colorful fish, and an amazing pod of dolphins.  So, if you are in Phuket, Thailand, and looking for a nice day trip, you should definitely put a Raya Island and Coral Island tour on your list.

Raya Island

Raya Island

Raya Island is also known as Racha Island, and just a 30-minute speedboat ride away from Phuket.  The island has stunning blue water with a light shade of turquoise and a dark shade of royal blue.  It’s amazing to sit on the powdery white sand, admire the water, and enjoy splashing around.

In addition to enjoying the beach, a quick 5-minute walk will take you up to a viewpoint where you can get an even better view of the beach and the island. When you climb up the viewpoint, you will be amazed by the vibrant blue water and the hilly island landscape.

We were truly blown away by Raya island’s beauty and you will be too!  Raya was a true highlight of this day-trip!

Siam Bay Snorkeling

Siam Bay Snorkelling on Raya Island

This boat tour includes 2 opportunities to snorkel.  The first one being at Siam Bay just 10 minutes from the main beach of Raya island.  Here you can enjoy looking at unique and intricate coral reefs and seeing colorful fish of all shapes and sizes.

We enjoyed snorkeling around Raya Island for about 40 minutes then it was off to our next stop.

Dolphin Watching

Our next stop was dolphin watching.  There is a pod of wild dolphins off the coast of Coral island.  Although seeing dolphins is not guaranteed, we were lucky enough to see a large pod of dolphins on this trip.

It was so cool to see the dolphins surface for air and then go back under the water.  Our boat stayed there for 15-20 minutes dolphin watching, and we could never predict where the pod would surface next.  The dolphins got pretty close though and were so beautiful to see!

Maiton Island Snorkeling

Our next chance to snorkel was off the coast of Maiton Island.  Maiton Island is a private and protected island, so we were not able to set foot on the island, but we were able to enjoy the beautiful coral and all the colorful fish from the water.  We snorkeled here for about 40 minutes enjoying seeing hundreds of zebra fish and brightly colored blue fish.

Our final stop was Coral Island.  The island is quite lively with lots of activities and beach bars to try.  You can take part in some of the attractions or just enjoy the beautiful view.  Activities include kayaking, banana boats, parasailing, scuba diving, and sea walking.  With so many options to choose from, there’s something for everyone on Coral Island.

How to Book

This island-hopping boat tour includes hotel pickup, lunch, and snorkel equipment all for the low prices of 1050 Baht ($33.37 USD).  You can book this experience through Phuket Travel Shop or Raya Princess Tour.

Final Thoughts

We loved this tour!  Kendra loved the beauty and the serenity of Raya Island the most, and David loved the lively activities and atmosphere at Coral Island.  This tour balances quiet beauty and lively island life perfectly, and we think you will enjoy the combination as well.
